Design Concept:

As described in the play, this world is a recreation of a dream - like a diorama, a child's cardboard dollhouse, a crime scene sketch, and distant memory. Yet, it is a comfortable, welcoming space for our audiences to lean in, listen, and interact with the stories that Heidi tells and the questions she poses our audiences. This is a space of openness and possibility, a literal room for growth. It is grounded in reality, but presented with the wonder when asked "what if?"

Frames on the walls begin as a repository for truth and history, full of portraits of Legionnaires, newspaper articles, constitutional documents, and photographs of Wenatchee and Post 10. As we move from left to right, however, the frames empty, leaving nothing but a beige matting. These frames represent all that is to come - what our future holds, and what is left to be written. Is it all set it stone, or can it be rewritten?

It was important for our characters to be relatable "everymen," yet find a level of specificity to feel real and grounded. The costumes of Heidi, our debater, and our Legionnaire are connected with yellow motifs, but are otherwise distinct and individualized.
